Office of Research Integrity and Compliance (ORIC)

We are available for research compliance inquiries, as well as to provide training and support as needed. We collaborate with ORA offices and researchers in modifying and creating new guidance. We track changes to current regulations, to support Emory research compliance.  We oversee the review of our internal ORA research compliance processes and we investigate and support the Research Integrity Officer (RIO) during research misconduct allegations.

Mission

The Office of Research Integrity and Compliance (ORIC) mission is to assist the Emory Community and ORA staff to promote research compliance with Emory policies and Federal Regulations.

ORIC Team Members

Margaret Huber, RN, BSN, CHRC, Compliance Manager and Research Compliance Specialist,

Margaret serves as a resource to the research community conducting FDA regulated research to ensure compliance with regulations and policy. Margaret leads the sponsor-investigator support program at Emory to assist study teams in FDA inspection processes. She began her career at Emory as an RN staff nurse at Emory University Hospital, research nurse and has held several positions at Emory University including the IRB and the Office of Compliance. 

Julian Hinds, JD, CHRC Compliance Officer.

Julian facilitates investigators’ compliance with regulations related to research involving controlled substances and is a critical contributor to Emory’s research integrity program. He has experience in research, pharmacy, education and privacy-related matters. Julian completed his undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University and his legal education at Mercer School of Law. 

Maria Davila, MD, MA, CCRC, CIP. Director and Deputy Research Integrity Officer. 

For ten years, Maria was part of ORA IRB team, most recently as the Associate Director. In that role, she established and led the IRB’s quality assurance and education team among many other responsibilities. Her Emory career started in the Department of Orthopaedics where she was a Sr. Research Associate, working of different resaerch projects and serving as the microsurgey instructor.
